Who will be the UFC's rival in the United States? The WFA just landed the hottest free agent on the market, Rampage Jackson, who will take on Matt Lindland in June. Also under the WFA flag is Jason Mayhem Miller, Kimo, Razor Rob McCullough, Ivan Salaverry, and even Ricco Rodriguez.

The IFL has a list of top level talent at the coaching level and the new angle on the sport with "team MMA". With names like Bas Rutten, Maurice Smith, Renzo Gracie, and Pat Miletich and others rumored, it has a good base and the owners have money to back the growth.

Finally there is the Strike Force promotion that just had Frank Shamrock beat down a Gracie. They hold the record for highest attendence and their next event features Vitor Belfort in the main event. Not a bad start!

All these promotions are new, but seem to have the name and financial power to compete with the UFC. And as the laws are formed with the athletic commissions in the US, look for Pride to land in the the States this year. I for one have been waiting for the day to see Wanderlei Silva fight on US soil.

The UFC is still the top dog, but all these new promotions are going to do nothing but enhance the product of MMA.
