Ball-Gate

There has been much debate about the new ball and the way it may be changing the game. Taking a quick look at three statistical categories, FG%, FT% and Turnovers per game shows that the new ball is taking different bounces early on. Free Throw percentage has reached an all time high when compared to recent years and the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s eras. Field Goal percentage is higher than it has been since the 90’s and turnovers per game are up over 2 per game than any other year in the 21st century.

Comments

How about turnovers per possession? Seems like the pace is up, which might account for some of those extra turnovers.
