Binge Eating Becomes Collegiate Sport
If the dorm food is as bad as most of us remember it, today’s college student can celebrate a new option for caloric intake. CBS College Sports Network and the Association of Independent Competitive Eaters announced this week that the first College National Eating Championship will be held Saturday in San Diego.
It would be hard to call the competition a healthy alternative to dorm food. The menu calls for typical college favorites, such as cheeseburgers, hot dogs and french fries. The top eight competitors will compete in what is being called a “picnic-style” setting.
“Students have been challenging each other in food competitions for a long time, and this event will determine the nation’s best collegiate food warrior,” said Arnie Chapman, chairman of the AICE.
For those of you who are looking for that sports scholarship for your soon-to-be college-age children, maybe it’s time to jump on board. It’s never too early to start their training with the crave case, the 30-burger special at your neighborhood White Castle.

I thought a food warrior was someone who engaged in an Animal House-style food fight.
