With many clubs now having played two matches in the Premier League, PlayTheGame has had the opportunity to add several improvements to the site. Chief among these has been the number of games remaining for each scoring position. Managers can see this feature on their Mnagae Team screens where it appears as a column on the left.
We have also added two new elements to the player profile pages. Each of the game's profiles will now show the number of minutes each player has been on the pitch during this campaign as well as any additional positions he is eligible to play. Both should prove useful to helping our managers make wise player decisions.
We have also added functionality to the Statistics (under Research) page where managers can now view multiple player stats from the 2006-07 season.
Finally, the following players will be added to the game shortly (though they wil be on notice for 48 hours to give all player a fair chance of acquiring them):
Mikel Alonso - Bolton Wanderers
Gerald Cid - Bolton Wanderers
Glen Johnson - Chelsea
Claude Davis - Derby County
Andrew Griffin - Derby County
Hameur Bouazza - Fulham
Javier Garrido - Manchester City
Michael Johnson - Manchester City
Kasper Schmeichel - Manchester City
Adam Johnson - Middlesbrough
David Wheater - Middlesbrough
Martin Cranie - Portsmouth
John Utaka - Portsmouth
Dickson Etuhu - Sunderland
Ross Wallace - Sunderland

how about adding the information about how many players/position each team has used to the league table. so i can see what dark horses have 'games in hand' on my team.
PlayTheGame Admin: interesting idea - we'll look into it.

I don't get this game at all.
Can I pick 11 strikers? What if I end up with a load of players I don't want? How do I get prizes?
Why did you ditch the old game, which was really good?
PlayTheGame Admin: Initialy, during player allocation, the game will m0ost certainly not allocate 11 forwards to a team because it will ensure that you have a complete team. After that, you are able to add players and theoretically you could pick up only forwards but you cold only play three of them per day and would very quickly use up yur limit of 38 plays per position.
Please click the blue prizes link at the top right of the game pages for more information about PlayTheGame prizes though we will say here that prizes are drawn monthly and randomly starting at the end of September from a pool of each leagues top three.
Being told that the old game was really good produces mixed feelings but the basic answer to why we changed is that we felt that fantasy football games were stale and deserved an update.

is it possible to see the other leagues that i am not part of and to see how other people are doing and how many people are taking part? thanks
PlayTheGame: Players access only to those leagues in which they are participating. However, while access to other leagues is not possible, PTG players can access the wisdom of players in the game by looking at the allocation stats and also the percentage owned and starting columns on their Manage Team page.

Not sure about the rest of the teams in my league having to approve a transfer from another team. Surely it should just be between the 'buying' & 'selling' club? If I get top, my main rivals may well all veto a move which another team (say one halfway down the tabel) had already accepted?
I understand why its in there to a certain extent but maybe U cud hav it that in the 24/48hrs after the transfer has been accepted other players in the league can appeal (disagree) with the transfer. It then goes to a 24/48 hr vote. (if u dont vote its assumed u vote IN FAVOUR of, or at least that u dont challenge, the transfer) Just something to make the transfers a bit smoother; otherwise I dont see hardly any happening.
Despite this small concern am loving it so far (tho not loving my league position!)

mayb these are good updates... but i wouldnt know seein as i havent been able to get onto my team 4 the past week.... sort it out!
PlayTheGame: While we have experienced a number of issues with the scoring of the game (these are all now dealt with), we do not have any issues with reliability and are happy to report that since we launched the game, it has never failed. It is with a touch of smugness that we suggest that perhaps you are talking about some of our competitors.

I'd second the idea about seeing how many positions have been used for each player - but more importantly by the entire team. I'm near the bottom of my league because half of my players are injured - which means I have hardly played any positions.
To Steve: this is described as "fantasy football with brains" - and I am a big fan of this format - much more realsitic - 11 strikers is certainly fantasy but also stupidity......ask Kevin Keegan. Where this beats other FFLs is because it is different - and I got rather bored of picking Henry & van Nistelrooy every year (along with everyone else)......

I also don't like that the rest of the teams in my league have to approve all transfers from another team, and that if you don't vote it should be assumed you vote IN FAVOUR.
In addition, currently you are able to play the game and not even realise that a fellow player has proposed a transfer. Players should be notified of Pending Offers on their "My Team" page.
Otherwise I don't see any transfers happening.
Despite this small concern, I am loving the game so far.
PlayTheGame: The reason for the having the league vote on all transfers is to prevent two individuals spoiling the game by agreeing to one-sided transfers. While it is true that it is possible for a group of managers to agree to thwart another, the chances of this happening are smaller.
Regarding your other point, managers who are offered a transfer are sent an e-mail and are also informed of the proposal via a red text link saying so across the top of the League Home page (this is the first page they access after logging in). Hopefully transfers within your league are agreed.

Kasey Keller has been added as a West Ham player. He plays for Fulham. In fact, does this even matter?

Any news on the possibility of seeing how many positions each manager has "played".
Ideally it would good to have a snapshot - e.g. I have only played 24 times in one league that I am in (and am bottom) - and 51 in another (and am top!) - this would be a useful feature to put onto the tables section, so you could see at a glance what games in hand (or not) you have on other teams in the league.
Otherwise the table can be a little mis-leading.....
PTG: Jake, the table can indeed be a little misleading if some players within your league are ahead of the game in using their player positions. We are investigating ways of addressing the challenge of how to display all teams' positions plays.
