We will continue to monitor players and add position eligibility as is appropriate throughout the 2007-08 Premier League season. However, we will only do this within each player's band so that any defensive position will be added to players whose primary position is as a goalkeeper/defender. Likewise we will add any midfield or forward position for those players whose primary position is either forward or midfield player. However we will not add a defensive position to a player whose primary position is as a midfiled player or forward nor will we add a midfield or forward designation to players whose primary position is defensive. These restrictions are in place because goalkeepers/defenders use different scoring categories from their midfield/forward counterparts.

Well then how about Jagielka?

but the example given was eboue to right midfield
??????
PTG: Eboue is listed as a right back. As has been noted several times, he has appeared on the right of midfield for Arsenal. However, his position eligibility will not change to include RM because it is a position outside of his goalkeeper/defender band. As such, the only positions we could add for him are CB, LB and GK as all positions in the midfield/forward band use a different set of scoring criteria.

Hi,
Hate to say it, but there's another error in the stats. Ashley Young got two assists yesterday but has only been awarded with one! Please could you take a look at this and correct? Thanks.
Not position eligibility related I know, sorry.

Might as well point this out - John O'Shea can play in defence and in midfield, contrary to your policy.

How come Phil Jagielka of Everton is listed as CB, as well as CM, LM, RM? Under your position eligibility rules, he cannot fit into both GK/DEF & MID/FOR categories!

I'm happy with this. I have Gareth Bale (listed as a defender) who played left midfield yesterday for Tottingham. That means I get any defensive points he is awarded, but he has much more opportunity to also get me a goal or an assist playing where he is.

The PTG player eligibility update explanation seems oddand inconsistent with PTG's own practice. PTG allows (rightly) Jagielka to play at the back or across midfield. Surely this is right and the answer is to allow player eligibility where appropriate in both the back 5 and the front 5 so that managers get defensive points when they play them in the back 5, and forward points when they choose to play them in the front 5, but obviously not both at the same time.

eboue, like villa`s Gardner has not played in his allotted band. at what point is the player transferred into the new band?
Other points: Keller is at Fulham not WHU at shown in the list. Why has Keller been added, whilst we still wait for others - eg Chelsea's Belletti

The trouble is with this statement about positional eligibility is that you have already done just that in my view. In my initial selection process I ranked Brett Emerton highly because he was rated a RB defender but when I received him I noted he was RM. I did email to query this but received a reply to say you would investigate this and received nothing beyond that.
You have now made him solely a RM player which actually alters some of his value to me. Pedersen tends to play in that position for Blackburn while Emerton places from RB - other Fantasy Football Leagues also list him as a defender.
By altering his position from defender to midfield you have set a precedent so while I can accept your reasoning for not wanting to add midfield roles to defenders (for points are distributed differently according to position), you have already set the precedent by completely altering the position of Emerton.
Are you going to make any other changes? Faye plays CM and CD, but in my view is primarily a CD. If he is to remain listed as a CM I believe he will be making fewer Successful Passes than he would have gained from Defensive interceptions. Indeed the Sporting Life website reports only today that "Newcastle are reportedly closing in on the signing of Bolton defender Abdoulaye Faye".

Is the game only going to class Chelsea's Juliano Belletti as centre back? I was under the impression he was signed as a right back?

But there are already players in the game that cross over the attack/defence scoring systerm e.g. Phil Jagielka so surely it's only fair to treat new position changes similarly e.g. G.Bale or C.Gardner. If the system can work out scoring for the originally assigned multi positioned/banded players, why can't it do it for new players?

Phil Jagielka of Everton can be deployed at Centre Back or anywhere in Midfield (Left, Right and Centre).
His "Player Profile" shows the points he has accrued in the goalkeeper/defender band (e.g. including Average Goals Against).
However, the "Statistics" page shows the points he has accrued in the midfielder/forward band (e.g. including Average Goals For).

I understood the reasoning that you have given for this defence (keeper & defence) and attack (midfield & forward) split, until that is, I found an anamoly.
John O'Shea of Manchester United, whose primary position is given as centre midfield, but can play as centre, right and left back. If he can, why can't the likes of Eboue, Matthew Taylor, Essien, Geremi, Phil Neville etc transcend this defence and attack divide?

Speaking of position eligibility, Alvaro Arbeloa has played left back for Liverpool all season - any chance of adding LB to his positions?
Mikel Arteta has played right midfield this season too.

Hi there, just wondering If Chelsea's new signing Belletti will only be listed as a centre back in PTG, or will he be allocated his actual Chelsea position of right back?

Proposed player position updates....
R.Babel should be included as a RM as well as a LM he is after all a right footed player!!
G.Belletti should not be a CB but should be a RB as he has always played here for Barca and Brazil

Given that everyone (including the Times itself) says that Juliano Belletti is a right back, why is he down as a centre back only?

When is Liverpools Arbeloa going to have left back added to his position eligibility as this is where he has played every game?

And how about Nyron Nosworthy?
He is only listed as RB, but he has played all games as a CB...
When will the position eligibility be updated?
Same as Elano, who as played as a CM (ahead in the field of Hamman and Johnson) but is listed as a LM or RM only (Petrov has played in the left and Ireland or Geovanni in the right).

Further to my earlier post, I just realised that what is being said above is not quite correct. I have Phil Jagielka in my squad, he is listed as CB, CM and RM I think, so if Jagielka can do it why not Eboue? Although I don't have Eboue in my squad, and it would favour my competitors, I feel fairness should prevail and please don't be stubborn!

This is concerning player positions.
Charles N'Zogbia is playing as a LBK and i was wondering if their is any chance that the player will be reclassed as a defender?
in the past PlaytheGame has re-classed sylvian Distin as a defender.
And although your analysis described the player as a LBK a few days ago. I have seen that PlaytheGame have now edited that statement to read "covering LBk".
So the question still remains. IS their anychance that the player could be re-classed as a defender?
If the player is still a defender by the 30th of sept will you change the position of the player?
IS their anychance?
Could you offer me some
kind of answer?
