Please note that following a review of the opening weekend's Premier League games we have updated the statistics for a number of players across the game. The changes we made are as follows:
- Statistics for Geovanni, Roque Santa Cruz and Tuncay Sanli were reviewed and updated
- Steve Howard: 1 assist added
- Morten Gamst Pedersen: 1 assist added
- Liam Ridgewell: 1 assist added

Alex Fuller:

Great news, although I still think Tuncay's stats must be wrong - Zero successful passes in 85 minutes played? That can't be right...he must have made a few in that time surely!

PlayTheGame: We show him doing considerably more than that in close to two games.

tania:

How can we know how many changes in each position we have left? (we start we 38 but then...?)

Richard Thompson:

Well done guys, any chance of adding Kasper Schmeichel soon?

Allan:

Why were there only chelsea players to score 6 points?

Andy Hawkins:

OK, could I ask why Kevin Davies was not credited with an assist for the ball he played through to Anelka on Saturday against Newcastle? Davies passed to Anelka who promptly scored but Davies has not been credited with an assist for it.

Sharon:

I cant understand the scoring system - I had Carlos Tevez, Micah Richards and Matthew Taylor in action last night, but today my team has one less point than yesterday - in fact all the teams in my league have had points taken away. What is going on?

PlayTheGame: The game's scoring system is certainly new and unusual but it is not impossible to understand. Here is a short explanation for the sudden fluctuation in your team's position (though it is not possible for all the teams within a league to lose points):

With games being played on a daily basis, team point totals are subject to fluctuation throughout the season. Naturally, the swings will be much more volatile early in the season. So if your forwards go goal-crazy on a Saturday you could well find that you are top of your league’s goals category on Sunday morning, which in a 20-team league adds 20 points to your team total. But if another manager’s forwards do even better during Sunday’s games, on Monday morning your goals score will have dropped to 19. As in the real-life Barclays Premier League, your team may be good - but the others might be even better ...

Alex Fuller:

Yes, I know that it now shows Tuncay as having made 21 passes in 173 minutes, but those 21 passes are 100% from the 90 minutes he played against Wigan. For the 83 minutes he played against Blackburn, he mysterioulsy has zero. I know this because I checked Tugay's stats every day and it jumped from zero to 21 the morning after the Wigan match.

You can confirm this by looking at his line on the "Team Stats" page for August 11th. This was the day of the Blackburn match, and he has zero passes. And on the August 14th page (the day of the Wigan match) he has 21.

I don't care too much to be honest - I was just curious as to how this error (and it really does have to be an error - I mean, NO passes for a central midefielder in nearly an entire match?!?!) happened and whether you could correct it. But it's no big deal unless it happens repeatedly, which it hasn't so far...

PlayTheGame: Alex, our apologies. You are right and while we appreciate your magnanimous attitude in this matter, we are going to be running an update shortly to correct the problem.

Richard Harris:

Michael Johnson of Man City scored a cracker against Derby on Wednesday, but he doesn't seem to have picked up any points at all

Leighton Lewis:

Why havent wednesdays points been added to our league scores. Also when does points scoring take place?

PlayTheGame: The PTG scoring system does not total points so there is never anything added. The scores are calculated by awarding points for each team's placement in each of the ten scoring categories relative to other teams in a league. For more on this, please see:
http://blog.stats.com/playthegame/2007/08/how_the_scoring_works.html

The scoring is done overnight after every matchday.

Alex Fuller:

That's great, thanks very much for correcting it.
