Fabulous Fabregas

Thierry Henry was the master at providing both goals and assists but, given his departure from the Premier League, which players can follow in his footsteps? Who can be relied upon to reward you handsomely in those two categories?

This season three players have provided at least two goals and two assists (each of them has recorded precisely two plus two) - Cesc Fabregas, John Utaka and Andriy Voronin. Of those three, the Spaniard seems the most likely to bring joy to fantasy managers throughout this campaign.

While Fabregas has achieved his tally in just four appearances this season (Arsenal's involvement in a Champions League qualifying tie has restricted them to four league games), Utaka has needed five league games for Portsmouth to manage that feat.

Although Voronin has made his fine contributions from just three appearances for Liverpool, two of which have come as a substitute, it is that lack of time on the pitch that might count against him. With three other top-class strikers at Anfield in Fernando Torres, Dirk Kuyt and Peter Crouch, the Ukraine forward is unlikely to play for 90 minutes on a regular basis.

Fabregas has struggled to complement his brilliant passing with a decent goal return since establishing himself in the Arsenal team, managing just nine in 110 league appearances, but last season he did at least find his way into scoring positions, only for his finishing to lack confidence. Having also scored in both legs of the Champions League qualifying tie against Sparta Prague, the early signs this season are that the Spaniard is finding his range and will become a coveted item in our fantasy game.
