Lescott is more

Goalscoring defenders: fantasy gold, especially if they play in teams that are tight at the back. Joleon Lescott is one such man. His header against Bolton on Saturday was the Everton centre back's second goal of the season and he could well be following in the footsteps of Steve Bruce, and more recently, John Terry, as a stopper turned scorer.

Lescott likes to come up at set pieces, has a strong leap and is accurate in the air, and has garnered a bit of buzz suggesting that he is not too far from England consideration. He should certainly be considered for your fantasy team.

Everton are set for a strong season, though their increased squad depth means that David Moyes, the manager, may rest a few players now and again. Lescott could be one, since Alan Stubbs formed an effective partnership with Joseph Yobo last season, when Lescott was often out on the left.

He won't be there much now that Leighton Baines has joined, but if he keeps playing well, it will be hard for Moyes to drop him.
