Further to the "Position eligibility update" post of August 26, please note the following refinement to our approach to players who play across PlayTheGame scoring bands of goalkeeper/defenders and midfield players/forwards. In spite of our assertion that we will not add eligibility across bands, it has come to our attention (thank you Mike, Jose, Steve, Raju, Iain, Becky, Andrew, Paul, Richard, Reed, Howard and others) that a handful of players already enjoyed this multiple eligibility.
As such, in addition to:
John O'Shea (MAN, CM) - also LB, CB and RB;
Phil Jagielka (EVE, CM) - also LM, RM and CB;
Chris Baird (FUL, CB) - also RB and CM and
Paul McShane (SUN, CB) - also CM
the following players have now been granted multi-band eligibility. The delay in straightening out this discrepancy stems from the need to carry out testing to ensure that our scoring mechanism would handle these players appropriately. We now feel that this is the case. The players in question are:
Craig Gardner (AST, CM) - now also RB
Charles N'Zogbia (NEW, LM) - now also CM and LB
Abdoulaye Faye (BOL, CM) - now also CB
Michael Essien (CHE, CM) - now also LM, RM and RB
Emmanuel Eboue (ARS, RB) - now also RM
John Arne Riise (LIV, LB) - now also LM
Patrice Evra (MAN, LB) - now also LM
Matthew Taylor (POR, LB) - now also LM
Gareth Bale (TOT, LB) - now also RB and LM
Brett Emerton (BLA, RM) - now also RB

do these players score in every catagory at once? or just in the defender catagory or midfielder catagory in which they are selected.
PTG: Ian - Regardless of a player's multi-band eligibility, the only scoring statistics that will be counted for him are those that apply to whichever position a PTG manager has used him in. For example, if Micheal Essien occupies a RB slot on a PTG team, his Midfield/Forward stats will not be counted. However, if he occupies a RM slot, his goalkeeper/defence statistics will not be counted.

so does this mean now that the players who are eligible for defence & midfield/attack get their previous points added onto our totals, or from now on ?
also if i play the player as a defender then his midfield / attack stats arent counted?
As if this wasn't complex enough!!!
PTG: Sid, there is no need to retroactively add statistics for categories for which the players are newly eligible because no PTG manager could have used those players in those positions before.

With regard to the "multiple eligibiity" update......
When will the points for their dual roles be added to the "mutiply eligible" players scores ?
Also, will it be retrospective for the the ones who have had multiple eligibility from the start of the game e.g. Jagielka ?
PTG: Denis, statistics for players eligible across both bands have already been added (they can be seen on the Statistics page under the Research tab as well as the individual player profile pages.
Regarding players that have enjoyed multi-band eligibility from the beginning of the game, their appropriate statistics have already been counted toward their teams' totals.

So if i played n zogbia in left back would he still get goals and assists ?
PTG: Matthew - Playing him or indeed any player in one of the GK/DEF positions means that the player in question would add statistics pertinent to that scoring band (ie for GK/DEF, that would be Goals/Assists, Average Goals Against, Defence, Clean Sheets and Points).

I'm glad you've sorted out the position eligibility thing, but what about Gilberto Silva? He played at CB against Man City on 25 August.
PTG: Gilberto Silva has been given multi-band eligibility and is now also eligible to turn out as a CB.

What do you do with players who don't play in the Prem any more.
How can you change those players.
Can you see other leagues to see how well your doing compaired to others
PTG: kellsters Army, players who no longer play for a Premier League club are of no use to PTG managers because only Premier League statistics count for the purposes of the game. As such there is no point hanging on to the likes of Jose Antonio Reyes or Gabriel Heinze unless there is a possibility that the player may return to the Premier League.
Regarding the comparison with players in other leagues, it is not possible to compare the performance of a team in one league with that of another team in a different league because teams are unique to each league and points are awarded based on a team's performance relative to other teams in the league.

Will Lasana Diarra's positions soon be updated?! Wenger said when he signed him it was for his versatility... RB, LB and RM?
PTG: dominic, at this stage of the season, a player's eligibility is adjusted and added to only after a player appears in a new position.

Given that Hameur Bouzza (Fulham) has played every game as a central Midfielder will his player eligibility be upgraded?
PTG: Grant, Fulham's Hameur Bouazza is now eligible at forward as well as left midfield (and the forward and midfield sub positions) but according to our records he has not played in the centre of midfield.

When do new players to the EPL get included in the game. I want to include Kenny Miller but he is not in the game yet.
PTG: Dubai, at this stage of the season new players are added to PlayTheGame after they make their first appearance in a Premier League fixture. Kenny Miller has yet to do that.

Hi, I have mathiew flamini but his only position is cm when he plays in defence also for arsenal? can this be altered?
PTG: sean, the Arsenal midfield player has in seasons past played in the back four - notably at left back during the club's run to the Champions League final - but his primary position is in the centre of midfield. We will add additional position eligibility for Flamini but not until he appears in a new position this season.

why are midfield players played in a defensive role not scoring any points in the AGA catagory eg people like Nzogbia, Essien and Emerton. Surely they should, can you confirm this as i don't want any nasty surprises later on in the game!
PTG: Ian, when we first added position eligibility across the two bands (goalkeepers/defenders and midfielders/forwards) we encountered difficulties in displaying all the statistics appropriately. However, all statistics were being collated and now display across the site.
