Please note that after a review of recent matches, Wigan's Paul Scharner is now eligible to play in central midfield (in addition to centre back and right back). Meanwhile, Ian Harte, of Sunderland, is now also eligible at left back (in addition to centre back).
Analysis: although neither is an automatic first choice at any position, both could help managers desperate for goals and assists from their defenders. Scharner's added eligibility in the midfield should not be used by anyone except desperate managers in very large leagues though this change serves as a natural prompt for us to point out that players eligible in defence are particularly valuable if they play further forward for their clubs.
Harte's rennaissance continues with a run in Sunderland's first team. That won't last long because Harte is at best an average defender but as long as he plays, he is a potential source of the odd goal or even assist - valuable commodidities for defenders, as we've already established.

Hi,
i sent a message a couple of weeks ago following the MU vs arsenal game.
Rooney wasn't credited with the assist for the Gallas own goal as he should have been but i'm yet to hear anything back.
Has a decision been made on this?

hi,
Brett emerton has played CM for Blackburn. Could you think about making him available to play at CM?
PTG: after reviewing video of Blackburn's Premier League matches this season, we have not come across an instance of him appearing in the centre of midfield.
