New Players

Whether you are new to PlayTheGame or in your second season of management, you need to remember that Monday is a big day for identifying potential new members for your squad.

Each Monday we look to add players into PTG who have played in the Premier League over the weekend, but weren't in the PTG player list at the start of the season. On the occasions where Premier League matches take place during the week, we'll look to add players the following day.

Each time we add a player to PTG, they go into a 48 hour notice period which gives all managers the opportunity to try and sign a player. If more than one manager in your league tries to sign a player during that time, then it's all down to the notice priority list. You can look at your position in the notice priority list and get an explanation of how it works by using the link on the 'Out-of-contract' page under the 'League' tab.

First of all though, you need to decide whether any of this weekend's seven new players take your fancy...

Ched Evans - Man City
Rafael da Silva - Man Utd
Rodrigo Possebon - Man Utd
Nabil El Zhar - Liverpool
Keith Treacy - Blackburn
Jose Baxter - Everton
Craig Beattie - West Brom

John Capel:

Zokora played right-back for Spurs at the weekend. Can he be given that position eligibility please. Thanks.

PTG - Zokora now has the added RB position eligibility

Bob H:

Can you please update the players below with the new positions that they started in at the weekend

MID Wheater RB
ARS Eboue CM
AST reo Coker RM
FUL Gera LM

PTG - All these players have now had the extra positional eligibility added to their profiles.

Gerry:

Will Fabio Aurelio recieve LM elegibility?

He came on in place of Benayoun at the weekend there.

PTG - we are looking to add eligibility for a number of players that have been raised in the blog, but Aurelio will not be one of them. The rules are that a player has to start a match at Kick off to be awarded additional positional eligibility.

Nick:

Is it just me, or is Andy Griffin (Stoke) not part of the game yet?

PTG - Andy Griffin has now been added to the game.

Phil:

On Saturday Damien Duff started the match as a 2nd striker. Please could you add Forward eligibility for him?

PTG - Damien Duff is now eligible as a Forward

Tom:

Makes sense otherwise we could have John Terry as a goalkeeper as has happened.

ian:

hoefkins of WBA should be a RB as of last saturday

PTG - Hoefkins now has Right Back eligibility

Diego:

Why are all/most of the players wearing last season's kit? It looks naff.

PTG - We are looking to update the kits to this years strips and this should be done soon.

Gary:

Your write up on Jermaine Pennant says " A talented winger who can play on either flank " so why is he only available at RM?

PTG - Thanks for pointing this out, the scouting report has been updated to reflect the realities of life.

Nick:

Geovanni played advanced midfield in a 4-4-1-1 formation for Hull v Fulham.

He should therefore have either CM or FOR added to his RM.

PTG - We have now given Geovanni Forward eligibility

bozzer:

Osman started in the hole for everton last week, is that FOR eligability?

PTG - Osman now has FOR eligibility

Ayush:

lucas neill has just started as a LB against man city. will that be added to his positions ?

PTG - Lucas Neill has now got LB eligibility.

Ayush:

bardsley had played LB in the first game against liverpool.

PTG - Bardsley now has LB eligibility

smith:

Andrew Reid of Sunderland started against Spurs on the left wing (there's probably a joke in this about him giving his team some width on the pitch). Any chance you could add LM position eligibility for him. Thanks.

PTG - Reid has started both Premier League matches as a Centre Midfielder, so we won't be adding eligibility in this instance.

John C:

Phillip Bardsley (SUN) started at LB for Sunderland in their 1st match. Please could you update position eligibility. Thanks

PTG - Bardsley now has LB eligibility

Chris:

Deco has played down the right hand side for chelsea in both of chelseas games so far.

PTG - We have had a look at where Deco has started the last two games for Chelsea and have decided to give him added eligibility as a Left Midfielder.

Paul Daley:

Seol Ki Hyeon (FUL) has played as a forward in the first two games. Can you add forward eligibility for him?

PTG - Seol Ki Hyeon now has Forward eligibility

chris goulden:

Aliadiere is also a winger I think as well as FOR?

PTG - Aliadiere has now had RM eligibility added after starting the first two games of this season in that position.

bobh:

Your player news for Amand Traore on Aug 25th states he made a surprise debut at left midfield against Man U - his eligibility only shows LB CB.

PTG - Armand Traore now has eligibility as both a LM and a RM

Mark Creese:

Yes it's not morally right, but I'm thinking of grabbing Joey Barton as cover for my midfield. He's listed under injuries but I don't have to option to add him (none of the other teams in my league have him either). When you search for him he doesn't appear either? Thanks.

PTG - Thanks for pointing this out, we will investigate.

PTG UPDATE - We will make a decision as to whether to add Joey Barton back into the game after his FA hearing on Friday 5th September.

John McKeown:

When I add an out of contract player to my team, do I automatically go to the bottom of the "Notice Priority List"? I thought I did but was told that it is only if you have taken someone on notice before rather than just adding a new player.

PTG - You only go to the bottom of the notice priority list if you sign a player who is on notice.

Shaun Blues:

when will we see Roman Pavlyuchenko of spurs added to the game?

PTG - Pavlyuchenko will be added to the game along with all the other deadline day signings.

shaun blues:

Juliano Belletti played in midfield at the weekend, can he be added as a midfielder?

PTG - Belletti now has CM eligibility.

Craig:

Juliano Belletti started in CM for Chelsea vs. Tottenham will "the game" be updated to reflect "the real life".

PTG - Belletti now has CM eligibility.

Nic:

Juliano Belletti started as a midfielder for Chelsea against Spurs, can u please update his eligibility.

PTG - Belletti now has CM eligibility.

shaun:

Playing as a holding midfield player due to injuries to Jon Obi Mikel and Michael Ballack, Belletti bundled in from a corner in Chelsea's 1-1 draw with Spurs on Sunday.

Will Juliano Belletti now be giving a midfield position?

This is the third time I have asked, poor response from the PTG team!

PTG - Belletti was given CM eligibility this afternoon. Apologies for the delay (there's been quite a bit going on)

Alisdair Reid:

When will Manucho be added?

PTG - He will need to make his debut in the Premier League before he is added to PTG.
