Good things come in threes

If you've seen the recent Gary Oldman promotion for ITV football, you'll know that 'good things come in threes' including the three wise men, three wishes and three lions on an England football shirt. Whilst the TV advert promotes ITVs hat trick of FA Cup, Champions league and International football coverage, it was the Premier League and Man United in particular that served up it's own threesome this weekend - three substitutes and three debuts.

The first two subs to get onto the pitch were 21 year old Darron Gibson and 17 year old Danny Welbeck replacing Fletcher and Park respectively. Debut became 'Dream Debut' for Welbeck when he scored a 30 yard drive in front of the Stretford End to score the final goal in the 5-0 victory.

If you want to take a look at the goals, they will be available on our Premier league highlights article until midnight on Sunday 24th November.

The third and final substitute will have pleased many PTG managers as one of the most queried players on the blog, Manucho made his long awaited Premier League debut for United. He signed for the Red Devils in January 2008 but was immediately shipped out on loan whilst his work permit was granted. After making his debut in the Carling Cup earlier this season, he's now made it into the Premier League.

All three players listed below have now been added to PTG and are subject to the usual 48 hour notice period. The players were added to the game around 15:15 GMT.

Darron Gibson
Mateus Alberto Manucho
Danny Wellbeck

Stephen Gisborne:

When will Kasper Schmeicel be listed please?

PTG - Please see our latest post regarding Kasper Schmeichel.

gus webb:

how about ben alnwick (GK) being added? word is that he'll be drafted in to replace gomes at TOT, which is surely a tasty proposition given their recent revival...

PTG - Alnwick will be added when he makes his debut in the Premier League.

Pete:

Why is Kasper Schmeichel on Notice for selecting?

While he has not started for Man City this season, he should not be a recent addition to the game as he played for Man City last season and has been on the bench all this season.

PTG - Please see our latest post regarding Kasper Schmeichel.
