PlayTheGame 2008/09 is up for an award - but we need your votes to help us secure it. Football blog SoccerLens is running it's yearly football awards and PlayTheGame is one of 6 contenders for the 'Best Fantasy Football Game' 2008.
The SoccerLens awards are two fold, a Readers Choice Award where the public votes for their favourites and secondly a Judges’ Choice Award.
Voting for the Readers Award closes on December 14th, so get your vote registered as soon as possible at the link below and encourage your fellow league members and friends to do the same.

We are currently referred to as 'Times Fantasy Football', but we are seeing whether we can get this changed to show that it is in fact PlayTheGame.
Many thanks from the PlayTheGame team

Times PTG is free, easy to use and delectably entertaining. The transfer system is also an interesting one, as it is unlimited and you are required to wait and see if you have successfully signed a player, or if another user has pipped you to the post.
I enjoy scoring system, as I believe it to be undeniably fair and the team selection system actually allows for real tactical intelligence. An example is my use of Maruoane Fellaini a Central Midfielder at Centre-Back, which allows me extra points if Everton manage a clean sheet.
PTG is as challenging or as simple as you want it to be, and I am enjoying it almost as much as the real football season. I vote for The Times 'Play The Game' for the 'Best Fantasy Football Game 2008'.

Before Summer 2007 I had never found fantasy football interesting, desbite holding a good knowledge of the Premier League. Since then I've been completely hooked, and log on every day.
The weekends are no longer the same, I set my team carefully, and then keep track of how my players are doing whilst the games are all in progress, then there's the seeing how the days matches have affecting the league, and has any players value gone up or down dramatically (eg Yakubu)?
I've just voted and PTG has more than 50% of the vote!
Would it be possible to next season have PTG with Championship players? It cant be that difficult, just an extra database of players and a few tweaks!

The Times PTG is second to none, tried to think of an improvement but cannot. I use other fantasy football formats but this game is the best by far!! Good fun. Keep it up.

PlayTheGame is the fantasy football game for real fans. If you completely mess up your pre-season player rankings and get out-smarted by the other managers, the game still offers you great opportunities to find diamonds among the middle & lower table teams. Geovanni was an excellent early-season find. I'm totally hooked!

I would please like to know why Kuyt has been given the assist for Liverpool's first goal scored by Alonso, when the ball took a massive deflection of a Blackburn player.
PTG - The video of the Alonso goal has been reviewed a number of times and from different angles to double check, but the ball does not touch the Blackburn defender (Ooijer) at all. Kuyt takes a swing at the ball and basically misses and then in a strange twirl the ball comes off Kuyt to end up at Alonso's feet to score. Therefore Kuyt is awarded the assist for this goal.

I agree with all the comments above...It's a great game, just wish there was a way to ensure that you could get 20 managers regularly playing. There's a few too many part-timers these days!

I'll vote for you if you credit Danny Higginbotham with the defensive assist he got on Saturday.
PTG - Higginbotham will not be awarded with an assist, he was close, but did not actually touch the ball.

I think the introduction of Championship players is a good idea. But can a goal, assist etc in the Championship be worth as much as the same in the Premier League? Maybe each PTG league could start with two divisions; the managers in the top division have access to Premiership players and the lower division managers to championship players only. With monthly promotion and relegation this would mean the promoted managers would have access to out of contract players in the top division and the players from the squads of managers who are obviously inactive. Relegated managers (if active) would have access to similar players in the bottom division.
Almost certainly too complicated to implement?!

Looks like we're out in front - if only the scoring system was that easy!!
Seriously, its great that you can miss out on the superstars and still benefit from the grafters and middlemen. How about bringing in a pay scale so if you find the next Maradona and his value goes up, you can use the profits to buy a superstar out of his contract with one of your opponents?
Or would that make a tricky game impossible?
Well done for the most polished fantasy game out there.

I would certainly vote for Ronaldo since he has achieved better and glorious tittles than all the other competitors. His 42 goals tally has undoubtedly enabled man u to win both the domestic and European titles. He will surely give the club world cup to his English warriors. It will be another fantasy to see him entertaining at such a high level of world football.
BRAVO RONALDO
