Hi - loving the game. Just want to know if you could please review the Scott Carson "own goal"? I can't understand how this is awarded an own goal and feel it should be a goal to Agbon and an assist to Barry.
i) It is most certainly a shot, not a cross. There was nobody there to cross to, and you even see Agbon look up at the goals and pick his spot at the far post before he shot.
ii) it is arguable whether or not it was on target, but not clear cut either way.
iii) it was from almost point blank range, meaning the goal keeper must make an attempt at the save. Just because it bounced in off his save shouldn't make it an own goal... that's really rough if it does. How about guys nutmegging the keepers and it bouncing in off their legs? I don't see them given as own goals!
I just think that there is a lot of doubt that it should be considered an own goal, and in these situations, unless it is clear cut, the benefit of the doubt should go to the guys having the shot.
PTG - As the second Aston Villa goal has been officially declared as a Scott Carson own goal then that is how it will stand in PTG.

Following on from Pat's comments, I would like to suggest that you look at including assists for own goals. I am aware you don't at the moment, and do not expect the rules to change mid-season, however this is a suggestion for next season's rules.
Taking the Carson own goal as an example, Agbonlahor is clearly the entire source behind the goal. Whilst the goal has officially gone down as a Carson o.g. (which I believe PTG should stick to unless it officially changes), it is still debatable. As it stands Agbonlahor has lost out completely on a goal or assist, for a goal he must take some credit for single-handedly creating.
Fantastic game though - the best in the business!!
PTG - Thanks for your comment, interesting idea on own goals and will add to all the thoughts for consideration for next years game.

How about a negative goal for every own-goal scored?
